Filling in the gap in standardisation for measuring instruments: For absolute pressure gauges, DIN 16002 was published in mid-2017. Hostile from WIKA conforms to this standard. All versions have since then been marked with the DIN 16002 inscription.
Previously, for mechanical pressure measuring instruments, a uniform standard had only been available for gauge pressure gauges (EN 837). WIKA therefore seized the initiative. In order to introduce such a directive for absolute pressure gauges as well, WIKA participated in its development as a member of the DIN committee.
The model 532.52 absolute pressure gauge from WIKA is evaluated and marked in accordance with the DIN 16002 standard.
DIN 16002 describes the dimensions, metrology, requirements and testing of the instruments. An absolute pressure gauge features a measuring cell. This is typically separated by a diaphragm element. The upper part – the reference chamber – is evacuated. The measurement against the zero reference pressure (vacuum) generally takes place in the mbar range.
The demands on the quality of absolute pressure gauges are high. Particularly the long-term stability is an important factor in this context. Thus, the materials selected for the reference chamber and the weld seam must not jeopardise the vacuum that exists within. WIKA therefore uses an extremely gas-tight material for the model 532.52.
The high demands correlate with the scope of testing which the standard has defined for the measuring instruments. On the one hand, this applies, for example, to the leakage rate of the reference and pressure chambers of the measuring cell. But on the other hand, it also applies to the dynamic load: The pressure gauges must withstand up to 100,000 load cycles before they can be marked as being in accordance with DIN 16002.
