Orders for dual-fuel LNG vessels broke all information in 2021 with a complete of 240 ships globally. That is greater than the previous four years mixed. And progress appears set to continue unabated in 2022.
According to knowledge from classification society DNV, orders for fifty six dual-fuel LNG vessels have been placed in January and February.This change in demand has created fairly a buzz at Svanehøj. The Danish marine pump specialist quadrupled sales of its patented deepwell fuel pumps in 2021, and there are numerous indications that sales may improve even additional in 2022.
Svanehøj has just secured an order for gasoline pump methods for 15 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (7,000 TEU), that are to be constructed at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The whole of 30 deepwell fuel pumps shall be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024. The order is among Svanehøj’s largest referring to LNG fuel to date. It is the second time within the last year that this buyer has chosen Svanehøj because the provider of LNG gasoline pump techniques. In July 2021, they signed a contract for deepwell pumps for 10 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (15,000 TEU).
“Until a number of years ago, the utilization of LNG as a marine gasoline was limited to LNG carriers and smaller ships. But we are actually seeing a sharp increase in gasoline pump orders for deep sea vessels corresponding to container ships and car carriers. We had been chosen as the supplier of fuel pump methods for over 50% of the dual-fuel LNG container vessels ordered globally in 2020-21. And we goal to extend our market share further within the coming years”, says Johnny Houmann, Chief Sales Officer, Svanehøj.
Large investment in lean manufacturing and new equipment
To support the green transition of the maritime business, Svanehøj is currently investing more than DKK 10 million in upgrading its manufacturing amenities in Denmark. A new factory structure with manufacturing cells and robotics will support Svanehøj’s formidable development technique and cut back lead instances for all products.

Svanehøj has entered 2022 with a model new strategy and a goal of doubling its turnover to DKK 1 billion ($152 million) by the end of 2026. In addition to gasoline pumps for LNG, LPG, and carbon-neutral fuels, Svanehøj sees great potential in growing pump solutions for the infrastructure to be constructed round Power-to-X and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
