Six alleged drug traffickers killed in gunfight with Chiang Rai police

Six suspected drug traffickers shot and killed in a clash with military border patrol officers in Chiang Rai’s Mae Fa Luang district. Invitation only say the alleged smugglers were “fully armed” and had been carrying greater than 1.eight million methamphetamine pills.
At round 4am yesterday, officers monitoring the border crossing by Myanmar’s Tachileik encountered 10 to fifteen males. According to the deputy commander of the task drive, the men fired shots and the soldiers shot again in a gunfire exchange that last round 15 to half-hour.
“They (suspects) attempted to enter Thailand through a natural creek. When officials requested them to cease, they started firing at us.”
